Scuba Steve's Nitrox Diver Course: what will you learn?
The Enriched Air Nitrox course is our most popular specialty and one of our personal favorite courses. We strongly recommend it for all certified divers. In this course you will learn to dive with recreational oxygen enriched air nitrox gas blends. You’ll learn why diving with a gas mix that has a higher oxygen content gives you more bottom time and less fatigue, as well as the necessary equipment for diving with nitrox safely. You will also go over changes to dive planning, as well as the use of oxygen analyzers for assessing the contents of your breathing gas. Finally, we will go over diving nitrox with a dive computer, and help you program your own computer for nitrox diving.
What sets our nitrox course apart?
We know your time is valuable, so your course takes advantage of online E-Learning to allow you to do most of the academics at your own pace and on your own time. Upon completion you will come to the shop to finish up your certification. To complete the course, an instructor will work with you to plan two simulated nitrox dives and discuss important course concepts to ensure you’re ready to safely dive with nitrox. You’ll then use an oxygen analyzer to analyze a nitrox tank to learn how the process works. That’s it! It’s that simple to learn to use nitrox. You can also optionally choose to add two dives on nitrox with your instructor. All our courses are run on our small, intimate 6 pack boat, and we provide the most individual attention possible, unlike some larger commercial dive boats where it's easy to feel lost in the crowd.
Who should take this course?
This course is for anyone interested in extending bottom time and reducing fatigue from diving, improving your overall diving experience. Minimum age for this course is 10 years old. A minimum of an open water scuba diver certification is required. A medical history form/questionnaire will be provided upon booking and must be completed by all divers prior to participating in this activity. You can find the medical questionnaire form in your eLearning module. You are responsible to make sure you are medically qualified to participate.
